Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and Che Adams are back in the Scotland squad for the last two Nations League matches. Rangers left-back James Penrice has earned his first call-up.
The stakes are clear. Scotland sit third in Group B1 and need at least four points to keep any chance of finishing second and reaching the promotion play-offs. A single point would remove the threat of relegation.
Switzerland top the group with maximum points, and Slovenia are three points ahead of Scotland. Both beat Scotland on home soil earlier in the campaign.
Scotland host North Macedonia and then travel to Switzerland, with the matches set for 13 and 16 November.
Who misses out
Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli named an extended pool of 28 for the first four games. The Belgian has trimmed that to 26 this time while keeping four goalkeepers.
Scott McKenna and Kenny McLean are out injured. Lennon Miller, Josh Doig, Colby Donovan and James Wilson have also dropped out of the squad.
Penrice, 27, has impressed since joining Rangers on loan from AEK Athens. Uncapped Blackburn Rovers midfielder Kristi Montgomery, 22, a late addition last time, keeps his place after starting all but one Championship match this season.
Form and a record in reach
McTominay has scored four goals in seven appearances for Napoli since recovering from a minor heart procedure. Adams has two goals in five Serie A games for Torino after a short layoff with an adductor problem, doubling his tally for the season.
Captain Andy Robertson can pass Sir Kenny Dalglish's record of 102 caps if the Tottenham full-back plays in both matches.
